You can give individual property listings their own custom domain, such as www.123mainstreet.com.
This creates a memorable, branded URL that is perfect for yard signs, print flyers, and social media campaigns.
Two Ways to Get a Custom Domain
When you open the custom domain section for a listing, you will see two options:
Buy a Domain
- Open the listing in the admin panel and navigate to the Settings panel.
- Under Custom Domain, click Add Custom Domain.
- In the dialog that appears, the Buy tab is selected by default.
- You will see suggested domain names based on the property address (e.g.,
123MainStreet.com,123MainSt.com). Each suggestion shows its price. - You can also search for a specific domain name using the search field.
- Select the domain you want and complete the purchase using a credit or debit card.
- After payment, the domain is registered automatically and DNS is configured for you. This usually takes less than a minute.
- Once setup is complete, the domain status will show as Active and the listing will be accessible at the new domain.
Purchased domains are fully managed. DNS records are set up automatically, so there is no manual configuration required.
Connect Your Own Domain
If you already own a domain, you can connect it to a listing:
- Open the listing in the admin panel and navigate to the Settings panel.
- Under Custom Domain, click Add Custom Domain.
- In the dialog that appears, switch to the Connect tab.
- Enter the domain name you want to use (e.g.,
www.123mainstreet.com). - Click Add Domain.
- You will see DNS records that need to be added at your domain registrar.
DNS Setup for Connected Domains
After adding a connected domain, the system shows you the DNS records you need to create at your domain registrar (such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.):
The A record and CNAME record route traffic to your listing. The TXT record verifies that you own the domain.
Steps to Configure DNS
- Log in to your domain registrar's dashboard.
- Find the DNS management or DNS records section.
- Add each record shown in the table. Use the copy buttons next to each value to copy them exactly.
- Save your changes.
- Return to the listing settings and click Verify DNS.
DNS changes usually take 1 to 5 minutes to propagate, but can take up to 48 hours in some cases.
Domain Status
After adding a domain, you will see a status badge:
- Pending DNS (yellow) - DNS records have not been verified yet. Follow the setup instructions and click Verify DNS.
- DNS Verified (blue) - DNS records are correct. SSL certificate provisioning is in progress.
- Provisioning (blue) - An SSL certificate is being issued for your domain. This happens automatically and usually takes just a few seconds.
- Active (green) - The domain is fully configured and live. Visitors can access the property website at the custom domain.
- Error (red) - Something went wrong. Check the error message for details and verify your DNS records are correct.
DNS Check Results
When you click Verify DNS, the system checks each required record and shows the results:
- A green checkmark means the record is correctly configured.
- A red X means the record is missing or has an incorrect value. The expected and found values are displayed so you can correct the issue.
Removing a Custom Domain
To disconnect a custom domain from a listing:
- Open the listing in the admin panel and go to the Settings panel.
- Under Custom Domain, click Remove next to the domain name.
- Confirm the removal in the dialog that appears.
After removal, the listing will revert to its default platform URL. Note that the Remove button is only available for connected domains. Purchased domains remain associated with the listing.
Tips
- Use short, easy-to-type domain names for the best results on print materials and yard signs.
- If you are connecting a subdomain (like
listing.yourcompany.com), you only need a CNAME record pointing tolistings.photeria.io. - For apex domains (like
yourcompany.comwith no subdomain), you need an A record pointing to the provided IP address. - SSL certificates are provisioned automatically. There is no manual setup required for HTTPS.
