Creating a coupon
Click Add Coupon and set:
- Name - an internal label clients never see.
- Code - what clients type at checkout, like
SPRING20. Auto-uppercased with spaces removed. - Discount - a flat dollar amount or a percentage off the order total. The discount applies to the whole total, so a percentage scales with bigger orders.
- Minimum order - the total a client must reach first. Leave empty for no minimum.
- Valid from / Expires on - optional start and end dates. Leave either empty for no bound.
Usage limits
- First order only - limits the coupon to a client's first order.
- Uses per agent - how many times one client can use it. Use this to stop a client reusing a code. Empty means unlimited.
- Total uses - the cap across all clients combined. Use this for limited promotions. Empty means unlimited.
Restrict to specific services
Turn this on to limit the coupon to services you pick. Off, it applies to the whole order.
Activating and reusing
Only active coupons work at checkout, so you can build one ahead of time and switch it on when you're ready. From a coupon's menu you can copy the code, copy an auto-apply link (below), or duplicate it as a starting point (the copy is created inactive).
How clients apply a coupon
Two ways:
- Typing the code at checkout in the order summary.
- An auto-apply link - from the coupon's menu, click Copy order link, choose which order form it points to, and share it. When a client opens the link, the coupon fills in and applies once they've added a service, with no code to remember. These are great for email campaigns.
A coupon stops applying if the cart changes so it no longer qualifies, for example dropping below the minimum order. The client adjusts their order to use it again.
