Custom domains let you use your own web address instead of the default Photeria URLs. You can set one up for your client portal, your property listing websites, and your email sending domain. Manage them at Settings → Domain.
Each setup follows the same shape: enter your hostname, add the DNS records Photeria gives you at your registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.), then verify. DNS changes usually take 1 to 5 minutes to propagate but can take up to 48 hours.
Organization subdomain
Every organization gets a free your-company.photeria.io address. To change the subdomain part, edit it and save. You'll be redirected to the new URL.
Client portal domain
Use a domain like portal.yourcompany.com for the portal your clients and staff log into.
- Enter the hostname and click Add Domain.
- At your registrar, add the records Photeria shows you:
- A CNAME pointing to
portal.photeria.io. - One or more TXT records that verify ownership (copy the exact name and token Photeria generates).
- A CNAME pointing to
- Click Check DNS & Verify Domain. Once records validate, an SSL certificate provisions automatically and the domain goes live.
Listings domain
Use a domain like listings.yourcompany.com, or a standalone www.yourbrand.com, for your property websites. If you enter a bare domain, Photeria prepends www. for you.
- Enter the hostname and click Add Domain.
- At your registrar, add:
- A CNAME pointing to
listings.photeria.io. - The TXT verification record Photeria provides.
- A CNAME pointing to
- Click Check DNS & Verify Domain. SSL provisions automatically once DNS passes.
Email sending domain
Send transactional emails from your own domain instead of a generic Photeria address. Enter your root domain (e.g. yourcompany.com), click Add Domain, add the DNS records shown (typically TXT and CNAME), then click Verify. See Email Sending Domain for the full walkthrough.
Disconnecting
Each domain has a Disconnect option. After disconnecting, that surface reverts to the default Photeria address, and you can reconnect later.
Tips
- Use subdomains (
portal.,listings.) rather than your root domain so you don't conflict with an existing website. - On Cloudflare, set the CNAME to "DNS only" (gray cloud), not "Proxied" (orange cloud), during setup.
- Leave your DNS records in place after verifying. Removing them takes your custom domain down.
- You can set one portal domain and one listings domain per organization.
