Email Sending Domain

By default, Photeria sends emails from a fallback photeria.io address with your reply-to attached. Verify your own domain to send from notify@yourdomain.com (or any local part you pick). Better branding, better deliverability.
Before you start
You need:
- A domain you own (e.g.
yourdomain.com). - Access to that domain's DNS records at your registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.).
You'll add two DNS records. If you're not comfortable editing DNS, grab someone on your team who is.
Adding your domain
- Sidebar: Settings → Domain.
- Find the Email Sending Domain card.
- Enter your root domain (e.g.
yourdomain.com). Nowww, nohttps://. - Click Add Domain.
Status flips to Pending Verification and Photeria shows the DNS records to add.
Adding the DNS records
Two records:
1. TXT Record (required)
- Copy the Name / Host value.
- Copy the Value / Content value.
- In your registrar's DNS settings, add a new TXT record with these values.
2. CNAME Record (recommended)
Improves email deliverability.
- Copy the Name / Host value.
- Copy the Value / Points to value.
- Add a new CNAME record.
Verifying
Back in Photeria, click Verify DNS.
- Verified - status turns green. Emails now send from your domain.
- Still propagating - wait a few minutes and try again. DNS usually propagates in 1-5 min, up to 48 h worst case.
- Failed - re-check the records. Extra spaces, missing parts of the TXT value, or wrong hostname are the usual culprits.
You can hit Verify DNS as many times as you need.
Domain statuses
- Pending Verification - records generated, not yet verified.
- Verified - live. Emails send from your domain.
- Failed - verification failed. Review records and retry.
Sending paused
If Photeria detects a high bounce or complaint rate on your domain, sending auto-pauses to protect reputation. A red "Sending paused" banner appears with the reason. Review your contact hygiene, then reach out to support to re-enable.
Which emails use this?
The verified domain applies to org-branded transactional emails: order confirmations, invoices, delivery notifications, etc. See Email Templates for the full list and per-template sender settings.
Platform emails (password resets, team invites, billing notices) continue to send from the platform, not your domain.
Disconnecting
- Settings → Domain → Email Sending Domain card → Disconnect.
- Confirm.
Emails revert to the photeria.io fallback with your reply-to attached. Reconnect the same domain (or a different one) any time.
Troubleshooting
"Still propagating" forever
Use dnschecker.org to verify records are live. Confirm you added them to the right domain.
Records added, verification failed
Copy the TXT value exactly: no extra spaces, no line breaks. Some registrars wrap values in quotes automatically; some append the domain to the hostname. Watch for those.
Can I use a subdomain instead of the root?
Use your root domain. The DKIM/return-path records are created as subdomains under it automatically.
Emails going to spam
Make sure both records (TXT + CNAME) are verified. If the issue persists, check your domain's DNS settings or contact support.
